A police officer attached to Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo police station has been arrested in a botched robbery incident.
The
police constable and his accomplice are accused of confronting a woman
at the parking lot of the Capital Centre shopping mall and robbed her of
cash and other personal valuables.
The victim told the police that when she was about to enter her car, the two ambushed her.
She
said she obliged to their demand for her valuables and it was other
shoppers who alerted police officers on patrol within the mall.
The officer’s firearm, a revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition, was confiscated.
Makadara CID chief Zack Nangulu has said that the officer will be arraigned on Friday.
